Onside believes that building a flagship facility for young people is the relatively easy part. It is more difficult to create and maintain a vibrant, exciting project, offering a multitude of opportunities, which is open when young people want it to be. To achieve this, OnSide proposes a strong, multi-sector, sustainable revenue funding model incorporating the following contributions:
Council-led public sector contribution:
OnSide will work with lead Councils to identify key components of public sector funding for young people, and to work with key strategic partners to achieve the 40% contribution.
Private sector contribution:
OnSide will develop the private sector-led Board, and will develop best practice (as in Bolton) to achieve the on-going private sector contribution. OnSide will develop a local fund-raising team, based on the Bolton model, to be based within each Youth Zone.
External funding applications:
OnSide will support a youth zone to secure revenue funding from local and national trusts and grants.
Membership fee:
The world class facilities, high quality staff and activities, and the affordability of the ‘Youth Zone’ offer will ensure a significant throughput of young people, as in Bolton, thus securing the Young People’s contribution to the revenue model.
