What we do. The OnSide offer.
OnSide is a newly established charity, set up to bring together the public and private sectors across the North West to develop strong local partnerships to build new, world-class, town and city centre facilities for young people.
Onside has its roots in Bolton Lads & Girls Club which was cited as a model of good practice in the Government’s paper ‘Aiming high for young people: a ten year strategy for positive activities’ published in July 2007. This new strategy is a response to the clear, ongoing demand from young people, parents and communities for more and better places for young people to go.
In May 2008, to kick start this strategy, the Government launched the myplace fund, which will deliver £190m of Government capital investment, over three years, through grants of between £1m and £5m. OnSide is working to support the development of local projects that will ensure best use of this very welcome investment to design, build and operate sustainable flagship centres for young people across the region.
OnSide will also provide a comprehensive support package to local cross-sector partnerships wanting to deliver similar world-class facilities for young people through other sources of capital investment.
After securing the commitment of local councils, private sector supporters and key strategic partners OnSide supports three distinct areas of work.
