OnSide is committed to involving young people at every stage of development of a youth zone. Young people’s active participation in every aspect of design and ongoing management of a facility is fundamental to our approach.
Once a local political partnership is established, OnSide would then begin the development process by consulting with as many local young people as possible. It is their key voice which determines the overall design of the proposed building, the use of the interior spaces, and the activities to take place at their youth zone.
OnSide would work with young people that express an interest in becoming more involved to set up a Young People’s Development Group. This Group would be active partners in the management and governance of the new facility.
Once the capital funding is committed for a youth zone, and the project moves from aspiration to reality, we foresee a range of opportunities for young people to take on roles and activities. This will ensure not only that the project is meeting local needs, but that it is also offering real development for the individuals involved.
